The foundation of the company Büssing goes back to the year 1903. Büssing is considered as the oldest German lorry manufacturer. From the outset lorries and buses were manufactured. In 1931, Büssing took over the AEG daughter NAG and become Büssing-NAG. Büssing manufactured many lorry types from 1.5 ton to 9.5 ton payload. Special lorries for the Wehrmacht were manufactured, too. In Total 2,758 units of the G 31 and 343 units of the III GL 6 lorries with three-axles were made. According to known chassis numbers, 3,195 exemplars of the Einheitsdiesel were made. More than 21,000 units of the 4.5 ton lorry type 500 A/S and 4500 A/S were manufactured. Beyond that, the Wehrmacht used innumerable formerly civilian Büssing-NAG lorries. Büssing-NAG offered a wide range of different lorry models in the 1920s and 1930s. Based on many of these lorry chassis Büssing-NAG offered omnibus chassis. Analogical, omnibuses based on Büssing-NAG chassis were quite frequent. The range reached from smaller 2 to 3 ton vehicles to large three-axle vehicles. The Wehrmacht used many Büssing-NAG omnibuses, too. Besides the civilian production, Büssing-NAG developed and manufactured half-track vehicles and 6-wheel and 8-wheel chassis for armoured reconnaissance vehicles.
