The state-owned concern MÁVAG manufactured agricultural engines besides locomotives and wagons. Beginning in 1936, Ford motor vehicles were made under license. At first it was a Fordson tractor. Later also Ford V8 and Eifel passenger cars. On 1st October 1938, the Hungarian work had to be committed to the German Ford Werke AG. About 5,000 German Ford 3 tons model 1939 lorries were manufactured for the Hungarian armed forced. About 1,500 of these had a Marmon-Herrington all wheel drive. During war, tanks and aircrafts were made among other things. Some Mercedes Benz lorries and s. gl. Einheits-Pkw were manufactured under license, too.
