The brand LaSalle was conducted by General Motors to close the gap in the offer between the brands Cadillac and Buick from 1927 to 1940. In principle, the LaSalle passenger cars were lower priced variants of Cadillac passenger cars which were exclusively manufactured by Cadillac. With the introduction of the brand LaSalle the design of passenger cars changed from pure functionality to a more individual design. LaSalle did not completely recover from the Great Depression and for this reason production was ceased in 1940.
