Buick was founded as independent automobile company under the brand name Buick Motor Company by David Dunbar Buick in Michigan on 19th May 1903. In 1904, the company was taken over by William C. Durant. In the following decades Buick developed to one of the most successful American automobile companies. With the immense profits Durant bought many other companies and established the General Motors Corporation.
