The Canadian Chrysler-works in Windsor, Ontario started with the manufacture of automobiles in 1925. Initially, American Dodge and DeSoto models were offered. During the Great Depression, the need for cheap vehicles was realised. Therefore, American Plymouth models were made with Dodge radiator grilles and emblems beginning in 1932. Beginning in 1936, Fargo commercial vehicles – which corresponded widely to the American Dodge models – were offered in Canada. During World War II, Dodge military vehicles modified on British standards were made for the Commonwealth forces.
