Within the Commonwealth, Canada made large quantities of motor vehicles of all kinds during World War II. Altogether 50,663 armoured vehicles and 815,729 military vehicles of all classes were made. Due to the Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) a standardisation was reached which had no equal. The different variants were made by General Motors Canadian division and by Ford of Canada. Apart from the engines, transmissions and rear axles they were nearly structurally identical. Their quality and durability was legendary.
