The first model of the m. Zgkw. 8t which entered serial production was the type KM m 8 developed by Krauss-Maffei. Büssing-NAG (BN m 8) and Daimler-Benz (DB m 8) made this model under license. The vehicle in the photo is a KM m 8 version 1934. This model can be identified by the straight cover of the running gear over the driving wheel.

The hard edge three tone camouflage pattern of the Reichswehr is clearly visible on this Sd. Kfz. 7 of the model KM m 8 version 1935. The 1935 model is identifiable by the curved cover plate over the driving wheel.

Because the main fuel tank was relocated below the driver’s seat, the superstructure could be constructed lower. Beginning with chassis number 8119 the external air filter was relocated to the right side.
