The Fabrique National d’ Armes de Guerre – FN in short – was founded as arms factory in 1889. Passenger cars were made beginning in 1900. Later, commercial vehicles were made, too. Passenger car production was stopped in 1935. Until 1940, special lorries were made for the Belgian army. Beginning in 1902, motorcycles were manufactured. Starting in 1937, a special cross-country motorcycle and a tricycle were made for the army.
