In 1938, the first modern ambulance - the Krankenwagen (Sf. 1) - was introduced. In the interior, mountings for four stretchers were available.

Because of significant technical shortcomings, the Sf. 1 was replaced by the Krankenwagen (Sf. 2) only one year later.
