The Federal Motor Truck Company was founded in 1910. From the beginning commercial vehicles were made. After the end of World War I, Federal stood in permanent rivalry to Diamond T, but only in 1927 and 1928 Federal was able to outbid the sales figures of Diamond T. Federal maintained an own car body and driver’s cab section, so a deluxe driver’s cab could be offered besides the standard one. In the 1920s and 1930s, the range of commercial vehicles reached from 1 to 7.5 ton payload. Mainly Continental engines were used. Besides the civilian production, Federal supplied larger quantities of military and civilian vehicles to the US Army.
