Immediately after the foundation of the Polish state after the end of World War I, Poland formed its own armed forces. The grade of motorisation was insufficient from the beginning on. This was caused by the badly developed road system in Poland and the lack of industrial capacities. So, motor vehicles were imported and later partially made under license. Most important licensor for passenger cars and lorries was Fiat. Due to limited numbers and outdated technology, Polish motor vehicles were rare in the stocks of the Wehrmacht.
