Phänomen Granit 25 1 ton lorry

The Phänomen Granit 25 was made beginning in 1931. The Reichspost used many of these vans as Landpostkraftwagen. During the war, every division had a field post office. After the removal of all installations in the post compartment, these vehicles were used as leading vehicles for the field post offices, one for each office. In this usage, the vehicles received a dark-grey camouflage finish and tactical markings of the field post, but they still carried their RP license numbers.

This Phänomen Granit 25 ambulance was most probably a formerly civilian vehicle. The car body differed widely from the ancient looking Wehrmacht ambulances.

The driver’s cab of this Phänomen Granit 25 platform lorry looks similar to the ambulance illustrated above. Most probably, these are vehicles of the year of construction 1935.

It seem, that the Reichswehr already procured a limited number of these vehicles with open and closed superstructures. The superstructure of the illustrated vehicle matches the superstructure of the vehicle shown in D 600, exactly.

The larger Phänomen Granit 30 was introduced in 1936. It had a new more modern looking radiator grille which was adopted to the Granit 25 the same year. This model of the Granit 25 was made until 1941.
