Contrary to the Henschel type 33 D 1 which was propelled by a 100 HP engine type D, the Henschel type 33 FA 1 was propelled by the Henschel type FA petrol engine with a cylinder capacity of 12,742 ccm and an output of 126 HP at 1,400 RPM. In contrast to the Henschel type F engine with a bore of 125 mm, the FA engine had a bore of 130 mm as well as a lengthened crank shaft for the attachment of a front-mounted fire pump.
