According to various K.St.N., the l. gl. Lkw. was destined as field kitchen lorry. Depending on the size of the unit, either a kleiner Feldkochherd - small field range - 12 respectively 14 or a großer Feldkochherd - large field range - 11 respectively 13 could be mounted.

Besides the underframe for the field range made of steel beams, the extensions for the hoops and the Kasten Zubehör und Lebensmittel - box for accessories and food - visible behind the cook belonged to the equipment sets of the field ranges.

Normally, there were only extensions for the two center hoops. In the case of the illustrated vehicle, all four hoops had extensions to create more space inside.

The solution with the raised tarpaulin could not satisfy on a longer term. Therefore, many units created solid, closed box bodies made of wood or metal. The illustrated vehicle belonged to a unit of the 14. Panzer Division.
