The l. gl. Lkw. was one of the best lorries of the Wehrmacht. The illustrated vehicle had the multicolour camouflage pattern of the Reichswehr which was common until 1937. The photo was made on 16th October 1938.

In many motorised infantry units, the l. gl. Lkw. replaced the Kfz. 70. In the case of s.M.G. - heavy machine gun - squads a locker could be mounted, in which 30 boxes for ammunition and accessories could be carried along.

Sometimes, the l. gl. Lkw. was used for the transportation of medical equipment, for example according to K.St.N. 1105 from 1st February 1941.

Each ammunition squad of the le. F.H. 18 (mot.Z.) batteries used four l. gl. Lkw., off. for the transportation of ammunition (K.St.N. 434 from 1st October 1938).

The pulling force of the l. gl. Lkw. was specified as 3.5 tons. Therefore, it was occasionally used as towing vehicle for guns. This l. gl. Lkw. is towing a 15 cm heavy infantry gun 33.
