The Mercedes-Benz type L 701 was a manufacture under license of the Opel Blitz 3,6-36 S. This type had to be manufactured by Daimler-Benz beginning in July 1944 after production of the own 3-ton lorry Mercedes-Benz type L 3000 S had been stopped in April 1944. Contrary to the original Opel Blitz, the L 701 had the standard driver’s cab of the last year of war and no company logo on the radiator grille. About 3,500 exemplars were made until the end of war. Production of this type was kept up until 1949. The illustrated vehicle was photographed during the post-war years.
