In 1937, the six-seated Wanderer W 26 touring car replaced the Wanderer W 50 four-seater touring car. Sometimes, such vehicles are designated as Phaeton. 184 exemplars of this version of the touring car were manufactured.

The Wanderer W 50 Pullman limousine was replaced by the Wanderer W 26 Pullman limousine in 1937, too. The Wanderer W 26 was propelled by a six-cylinder engine with a power of 62 HP which was also used for the Wanderer W 23. In this design, the Wanderer W 26 was made until 1938.

In 1939, the Wanderer W 26 got a new design. Production was stopped due to restrictions of war in 1940. This Wanderer W 26 touring car was used by a unit of the Luftwaffe. 835 exemplars were made from this version of the touring car.
