Steyr 1500 A & 2000 A (type 270)

The Steyr 1500 A resp. 2000 A was made only in small numbers as lorry (type 270) with platform. In the usage as lorry, the Steyr 1500 A resp. 2000 A always had a closed sheet steel driver’s cab which was replaced by a closed Holzfahrerhaus made of wood and fibreboard in 1944.

Vehicles with platform superstructure were mainly used as Fernsprechkraftwagen - telephone motor vehicle- and as transportation vehicle for the Kfz. Instandsetzungs-Trupp - motor vehicle maintenance squad.

The closed standard box body was used more frequently. Vehicles with the closed standard box body were mainly used as Funkkraftwagen – radio motor vehicle – (Kfz. 17) and Krankenkraftwagen – ambulance – (Kfz. 31).
