The Gräf & Stift V 8 was manufactured from 1935 to 1938. In this period, the Austrian Army procured 48 exemplars of the military type V 8 M, which was propelled by a 5.2 litres petrol engine. Further 24 exemplars of the military type V 8 MD, which was propelled by a 4.85 litres diesel engine were also procured. After the Anschluss, the vehicles were taken over by the German Wehrmacht.
