In early 1944, the production of the Mercedes-Benz L 1500 S was stopped. An alternative had to be found for the chassis for the LF 8. In the end, the Opel Blitz 3.6-36 S was chosen. Because of the larger loading capacity of the chassis, the Tragkraftspritze - portable fire pump - could be carried along inside of the vehicle - so no additional trailer was needed. The superstructure was simple constructed. It was mainly designed as a timber construction with fibreboard planking. The vehicles were designated LF 8-44. (Photo: Magirus via Internet)
