The Fernsprechkraftwagen - telephone motor vehicle - (Kfz. 77), abbreviated Fsp. Kw. (Kfz. 77), was at first - like the Beob. Kw. (Kfz. 76) - developed based on the chassis of the m. gl. Lkw. (o) - medium cross-country lorry (commercial). Most probably during the experimental stage, it was realised that a smaller chassis was sufficient.

Because of that reason, serial production was started based on the chassis of the l. gl. Lkw. (o) - light cross-country lorry (comercial). Typical for the Fsp. Kw. (Kfz. 77) were the mountings for rods and folding ladders on the sides of the superstructure.

Behind the driver’s seat, a marshalling panel and cable drums were mounted. For the laying of cable, a cable drum could be mounted to the tubular frame over the driver’s compartment.

After the Einheitsfahrgestell für l. Lkw. - standard chassis for light lorry - had been introduced, the Fsp. Kw. (Kfz. 77) was made based on this chassis. Typical for the Fsp. Kw. (Kfz. 77) mit Einheitsfahrgestell für l. Lkw. were the cable drums on the right and left rear of the superstructure.
