With the Sauerstoff- und Stickstoff-Erzeugungskraftwagen (Kfz. 44), abbreviated Sauerst. u. Stickst. Erz. Kw. (Kfz. 44), oxygen and nitrogen was created which was neaded for various welding techniques but also for the artillery and as blowing agent for flame throwers. The appropriate Maschinen- und Gerätesatz - machine and equipment set - was officially introduced with the A.H.M. 1942, Blatt 25 from 7th November 1942, No. 959.

The superstructure illustrated above could be proven based on the chassis of the Henschel type 40 S 2 and the Büssing-NAG 500 S in use by the artillery and - in the case of the illustrated photo - by the Pz.Abt. (Flamm) 100. Later, the Büssing-NAG 4500 S with closed superstructure was used. (Image from D 600)
