The illustrated handcart is most probably a Handkarren für Sanitätsgerät for medical equipment. The red cross markings on both carts points to that conclusion. The carts are numbered V and VI. Therefore they belonged to a larger equipment set. In the rearground of the original photo further unloaded handcarts are visible and soldiers which were busy by building up a large tent - most probably a medical tent.
