The schwere Protze 18 für Kraftzug - heavy limber 18 for motorised towing - was used for towing the 15 cm schwere Feldhaubitze 18 and the schwere 10 cm Kanone 18.
After the gun was moved into position, the gun-carriage beams were lifted so that the limber could be driven out. The schwere Protze 18 für Kraftzug was officially introduced with the A.H.M. 1935, Blatt 13 from 7th June 1935.
