Mercury was founded in Dearbourn, Michigan in direct neighbourhood to the Ford headquarter in 1939. The Mercury passenger cars were upgraded Ford V8 passenger cars with improved features. With the products of this company, the gap between the offers of Ford and Lincoln was closed. In 1942, production was stopped due to war restrictions.
