Hudson Motor Car Company

The Hudson Motor Car Company was founded in Detroit in 1909. The name was taken from the main financier Joseph Lowthian Hudson. Until the late 1930s, Hudson became the third larges automaker in the USA. The brand Essex was conducted as a cheap alternative from 1918 to 1932. In 1932, the Essex Terraplane was developed. In 1933, the name Essex was ceased. The vehicles were offered under the new brand name Terraplane from 1933 to 1939.
