The Graham brothers acquired the Paige-Detroit Motor Company in 1927 and so entered the automotive manufacture. At first, the produced vehicles were offered under the brand name Graham-Paige. Beginning in 1930, the vehicles were offered under the brand name Graham. Mainly middle class passenger cars with six- and eight-cylinder engines were made. The Great Depression was overcome to some degree but the annual production figures never surpassed the 20,000 mark. The new 1938 model turned out to be a great failure. Even the cooperation with Hupmobile could not change the bad situation. In 1941, the passenger car production was stopped in favour of defence production.
