The brothers Rollin H. White and Clarence G. White founded the Cleveland Motor Plow Company in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1916. From the beginning, tractors and motor ploughs were made. Beginning in 1918, it was traded under the name Cleveland Tractor Company – Cletrac in short. Cletrac developed a steering gear for tracked vehicles which gained currency all over the world. The tractors – mostly crawler-tractors – were propelled by kerosene. Beginning in 1933, diesel engines were used. Late in 1944, Cletrac was taken over by the Oliver Corporation.
