In total, 3,700 Kommunar were manufactured from 1924 to 1931. It was based on the German Hanomag WD-50. Different models were made propelled by different engines from 60 HP to 90 HP. It had a pulling force of six tons and a top speed of 7 to 15 km/h. Because of its outdated design and its limited cross country mobility, only individual exemplars of the Kummunar were used by units of the Wehrmacht. These three Kommunar were captured in good condition.
