MVG was founded in 1896. The brand name Rába was registered in 1903. At the beginning, railway components were manufactured. Later also armaments and lorries. In the 1920s, Rába became Hungary’s largest lorry manufacturer. Toward the end of the 1930s, Rába developed and manufactured special military three-axle lorries.
