The company Clayton and Company was founded in Huddersfield in 1904. In 1920, it was renamed to Karrier Motors Ltd. Lorries, buses and tractors with two and three axles were manufactured during the 1920s and 1930s. In 1934, Karrier was taken over by the Rootes-Group. After that, production was shifted from Huddersfield to Luton. Besides the civilian production, Karrier manufactured three axle cross-country lorries for the British army.
