The Birmingham Samll Arms Company Limited, B.S.A. in short, was founded based on fourteen armouries in 1861. At first, weapons were manufactured, starting in the 1880s also bicycles. First trial motorcycles were developed commencing in 1903. Serial production was started first in 1910. Already from 1907 on, cars were offered. The production of motorcycles was continued and expanded in the following time. Already during World War I, motorcycles were delivered to the army. This was continued after the war and also during World War II.
