The Stoewer R 140 was manufactured beginning in 1932. It was propelled by a 30 HP four-cylinder engine with a cylinder capacity of 1,355 ccm. In 1933, the cylinder capacity was enlarged to 1,466 ccm. The R 150 offered beginning in 1934 had the same 1,466 ccm engine which was strengthened to 35 HP. In 1935, the Stoewer R 180 was made which was now propelled by a 45 HP four- cylinder engine with a cylinder capacity of 1,769 ccm. The R 180 differed from the predecessor models by the skirting panels on the front mudguards. The illustrated Stoewer R 150 belonged to a unit of the Luftwaffe.
