Selve Automobilwerk AG, Walther von Selve

Shortly after the end of World War I Dr. Ing. e.h. Walter von Selve acquired the Norddeutsche Automobilwerke in Hameln/Weser and renamed it into the Selve Automobilwerke GmbH. In 1922 the company was converted to a stock company. Beginning in 1919, high-quality passenger cars were manufactured. The engines originated from the Motorenfabrik Basse & Selve, which likewise belonged to the Selve group. Because of unprofitability of the cars, production was stopped in the year 1929. Until that date, about 3,000 passenger cars were made. Starting in 1932 it was operated under the name Selve Automobilwerk AG. For some time the company was operated under varying names until bankrupt had to be announced in the year 1934. In cooperation with the Voran Automobilbau AG, the Selve Type M six-wheel passenger car with all-wheel drive was developed for the Reichswehr beginning in 1926. Until 1929 only some trial models were made.
