Imbert wood gas device

To save propellants the system of the wood gas generator was developed. Mainly, these systems were operated with wood. Other organic materials like peat could be used, too. The image illustrates the device built into an Opel Blitz 3.6-36 S. (Image from operation manual)

Altogether four Opel Blitz 3.6-36 S with the civilian model of the Imbert wood gas generator are illustrated in the photo. The generators were filled with wood.

To increase the ground clearance, Imbert developed three different wood gas generator sets for the Wehrmacht. The illustrated Opel Blitz 3.6-36 S was equipped with the model W2 for engines up to a cylinder capacity of four litres.
