The Lauster Wargel LW 5 was made in 1943. It was planed as towing vehicle for the trench plough and as recovery vehicle for heavy tanks. The Cardan joint steering connected two nearly identical half-vehicles. The vehicle was propelled by two Maybach HL 108 TUKRM engines with a power of each 235 HP, which could accelerate the 36 tons heavy vehicle to a maximum speed of 30 km/h. This development had an enormous towing capacity of 53 tons.
