Commencing in November 1943, the elaborate constructed Metallaufbau - metal superstructure - was replaced by a simple flatbed made of wood. At first, the standard Metallfahrerhaus - metal driver’s cab - was still used.

Asimplified Holzfahrerhaus - wooden driver’s cab - was used commencing in 1944. There were three different designs of the sides of the driver’s cab. On the photo, a version with short bevel is visible. In addition, there were versions with a long bevel and with a rounded profile. The photo was made in November 1944.

This known photo of a conclusion model of the Sd. Kfz. 7 was made in March or April 1944. The simplified rear superstructure is clearly visible.
