Demag

The Deutsche Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft (Demag) arose from the merger of several local companies in Duisburg in the year 1910. Large gantry- and pontoon-cranes were manufactured. Beginning in 1925, mechanical diggers and locomotives were made. The le. Zgkw 1t (light 1 ton half-track vehicle) was developed by Demag beginning in 1934 and then manufactured until 1944. The le. Zgkw. 1t was the base for the development of the le. Schützenpanzerwagen family Sd. Kfz. 250, 252 and 253 (light armoured personnel carriers) In the years 1944 and 1945 the Bergepanther was made.
