Kommerzienrat (councillor of commerce) Carl Reichstein founded a small plant for the production of bassinettes in Brandenburg an der Havel in 1871. The Brennabor-works arose only three years later. Around 1885, production of bicycles was started and commencing in 1902, motorbikes were made. After the development of a three-wheeler, automobiles were offered beginning in 1908. During World War I, no automobiles were made. Beginning in 1919, a new car was offered. Three years later, the first new small lorry was produced. Towards the end of the 1920s, the company went into financial difficulties. In 1932, production of automobiles had to be paused for eight months. Several new models were presented in 1933 but these models did not succeed so production of motor vehicles was stopped at the end of this year. Prams, bicycles and motor-assisted bicycles were made until 1940. Beginning in 1936, armaments were made, too.
