French Clément Bayard cars were offered in Great Britain under the brand name Talbot beginning in 1903. Starting in 1905, passenger cars were assembled using parts imported from France. One year later, cars developed in Great Britain were manufactured. The British branches were taken over by the Paris based company Darracq in 1919. One year later, the Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq concern was established. Beginning in that time period, Talbot cars were made in Great Britain and in France. In 1935, the Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq concern became insolvent. The British branch was taken over by the Roots concern. The French Talbot work was taken over by the formerly production manager Antonio Lago. Newly designed automobiles were offered under the brand name Talbot-Lago. These cars got famous because of their extravagant car body designs. During the occupation time from 1940 to 1944, tracks for German half-track vehicles, crankshafts for the Büssing-NAG 4500 S and Wilson gearboxes for the Panzerkampfwagen 38 (t) were made.
