After some fiddly jobs with motorised bicycles, René Gillet started with the manufacturing of motorcycles in a small factory in Paris aroun 1900. Quickly, the factory became too small so that he had to built up a larger factory in Montrouge (Seine). Because of their reliability, the army and the police took notice of the motorcycles made by René Gillet. Special motorcycles for the army were manufactured until World War II.
