Hotchkiss et Cie was founded as arms factory by Benjamin Berkeley Hotchkiss in 1867. The first automobile was manufactured in 1903. During World War I, tanks were manufactured besides other armaments. Passenger cars and armaments were manufactured in the time between the world wars. For the German Wehrmacht, passenger cars were manufactured in small numbers.
