Delage was founded by Louis Delage in Levallois for the production of passenger cars in 1905. Beginning in 1909, own developed engines were used. Because the company grounds in Levallois became too small, the company was moved to new factory site in Paris in 1912. In the 1920’s, passenger cars of Delage became popular. In these times, passenger cars with four-, six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder engines were made. In the Great Depression, Delage went into financial difficulties which lead to bankrupt in 1935. However, the passenger car production was taken over by Delahaye. Production of Delage passenger cars was kept up until the early 1950s.
