Only 51 exemplars of the Tatra 72 were made beginning in January 1934. After smashing Czechoslovakia, 18 vehicles remained with the Slovakian armed forces. Additional 9 vehicles were given to Rumania. The Wehrmacht took over 14 vehicles and additional 10 vehicles were used by regular police forces.
