Commercial lorries with about 6.5 tons payload were designated Lastkraftwagen 6,5t, offen - lorry 6.5 tons, open. In this payload class, the vehicles were exclusively drawn in formerly civilian vehicles or vehicles which were made in the occupied territories. In the second half of war, no vehicles of this class were manufactured in Germany. Lkw 6,5t, offen were mainly used by transportation battalions and regiments.
