Commercial lorries with about 3 tons payload, which were manufactured according to A (4x4 drive) criteria, were designated Lastkraftwagen 3t, offen, gl - lorry 3 tons, open, cross-country. The usage was specified in the appropriate K.St.N. Lkw 3t, offen, gl were used for example for the transportation of maintenance equipment, of spare parts, of tools and recovery equipment, of armourer equipment and of flammable liquid but also for personnel and their equipment like - for example - a survey squad and its equipment.
