The Mörserzugmittel - mortar towing vehicle - 35 (t) was converted from overhauled Panzerkampfwagen 35 (t). Apparently, 37 vehicles were converted in 1942 and further 12 vehicles in 1943. The turret as well as the bow machine gun were removed. A massive towing device was attached to the rear of the vehicle. This resulted in a towing capacity of 12 ton.
