Landwasserschlepper (LWS)

The development of the Landwasserschlepper - land-water-tractor - (LWS) was started in the year 1935 after a demand from Wa. Prüf. 5 to Wa. Prüf. 6. Because of the complexity of the design, several companies had to be involved.

The first series of four vehicles was delivered until December 1940. From March to June 1941, eight vehicles of the second series ought to be finished. On first June 1942, the Waffenamt reported that only seven vehicles had been accepted. A further contract of fourteen LWS should be transacted from August 1942 to September 1943. The LWS should be replaced by the Panzerfähre.
