There was each one variant of the Panzer IV/70 (Sd. Kfz. 162/1) armed with the powerful 7,5 cm Panzerjägerkanone 42 L/70 from Alkett (A) and VOMAG (V). From August 1944 to March 1945,  930 Panzer IV/70 (V) and 278 Panzer IV/70 (A) were manufactured. The Panzer IV/70 (V) corresponded widely to the Jagdpanzer IV (Sd. Kfz. 162). Contrary to the VOMAG model, the Panzer IV/70 (A) was based on the normal hull of the Panzerkampfwagen IV. For this reason, a steep armour plate had to be created in front of the driver’s seat similar to that of the Panzerkampfwagen IV. Therefore, the Alkett vehicle was about 27 cm higher. In addition, the shape of the armour was less fafourable. (Photo: US-Army)
