Dieselelektrische Räderfräse (DEP & DEP 1941)

The Dieselelektrische Räderfräse - diesel-electrical wheeled-snow blower - DEP was procured in larger quantities. It was propelled by a diesel engine which had effect on the blower-drum and an electrical generator. Because of the electrical drive of the running gear, the speed of the vehicle could be regulated more easily during the clearing process. (Image from: Der Straßenwinterdienst Teil I)

In 1941, an improved version of the DEP was introduced, the DEP 1941. These vehicles were developed for the clearing of roads and motorways. Later, they were also used in the rearward areas of the east front. (Image from: Der Straßenwinterdienst Teil I)
